Spencer Matthews is at the forefront of British reality television, known for being the charismatic central figure in BAFTA award winning Made in Chelsea.
Before Made In Chelsea, Spencer worked at City Index – a broker group providing online financial spread betting, FX, and CFD trading. He then went on to be a foreign exchange broker. A job he kept up whilst also filming the first series of MIC.
Spencer is actively involved in The Michael Matthews Foundation, a charity set up by his family in memory of his brother Michael who sadly passed away at the young age of 22. Funds raised by the charity help create an education and future for the local children in Tanzania. Spencer has recently paid several visits to Tanzania, building schools to provide the children with a safe learning environment and the gift of education.
Spencer is well educated, having studied French, Art and Theatre Studies at Eton. He achieved A’s in all three subjects and received the highest mark in the country for his art work. Spencer also attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in ‘Theatre and Television’.
Spencer is passionate about sport. He has completed two New York Marathons and has an accelerated freefall skydive license – completing over 30 sky dives. He also enjoys Rugby and was part of the college rugby team – USC Trojans. Spencer is also a keen snowboarder and has recently taken up skiing. A skill which has secured his place as a contestant on Channel 4’s The Jump, airing this February.
